History of the monument

A house of heritage. Built in the late 18th century, this manor house and its outbuildings were acquired by Madame Dupin de Francueil, the paternal grandmother of George Sand.

A personality to be rediscovered. Born Aurore Dupin in 1804, George Sand earned a living from her writing and was very independent. Separated from her husband, she defended the rights of women in her works and was involved in the 1848 Revolution.
