Presentation

To mark the bicentenary of the birth of Maurice Sand (1823-1889), the Centre des monuments nationaux and the Musée de l'Ardenne, in partnership with the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes, are joining forces in 2023 to dedicate an exhibition to her at the Musée de l'Ardenne in Charleville-Mézières.

Bringing together over a hundred works from the collections of George Sand's house in Nohant, most of which have never been seen before, this event highlights Maurice Sand's intense activity as a creator of puppet theater.

In the exhibition, visitors are invited to discover the ingenuity of this exceptional puppeteer, and to enter the heart of the creative process through a selection of sets, puppets, costumes and accessories. More than just an entertaining experience, the exhibition brings to light an artistic, fantastic and sensory universe spanning forty-two years of creation.
